This month, Cass was going to give the rundown on the best riding pants/tights, but the list became looonnnnnnnng.  That, combined with a demanding new job, left Cass without time to either trim down the pants article or start something new. We stepped in and decided to tell you about this fantastic company we found online. The company is called Knotty Horse Halter Company and they market a product called a "halter jig".  I don't know about you, but I'm a little intimidated by the complicated knot at the bottom of the halter. Be afraid no more! This innovative company has developed a handy little board with color coded instructions that tell you where to put the rope... mystery solved. Read on...

Make your own rope halter with ease with the Knotty Horse Jig. This Jig is a simple way to construct a professional rope halter for any animal! Building your own rope halters allows you to custom fit to your animal, whether it be a weanling, foal, or mature horse.

You are no longer limited to what the store has in stock. The possibilities are endless.  Colors, Rope diameter, stiffness, and type can all be chosen to fit your needs. You can add nose band knots for training halters or wrap the nose band for comfort on older horses. This jig takes rope size up to 3/8" in diameter. Why pay retail when you can have a custom fit rope halter, for only the price of 20ft of rope?

I've always been interested in tying rope halters and taught myself how to tie some from instructions on the web. The instructions were vague and didn't tell you how to tie the whole halter. I also could never get the area around the fiador knot right. The lengths always varied and half the time the knot would not come out right. I was sure they must have jigs to tie these knots somewhere but I could not find one anywhere.

This is why we made the Knotty Horse Jig. It really is the heart of the product. This easy-to-use jig will greatly help you tie the most difficult knots on the halter, namely, the Fiador knot and the Double Overhand knot. These are the same knots used in the rope halters hanging in your local tack store. We have also included step by step instructions with diagrams to walk you through the whole halter tying process - from start to finish. In addition we have created a DVD to illustrate the process as well as several variations to the standard halter. Anybody, and I mean anybody can use our jig and instructions to tie their own rope halter.

Make halters & sell them or give them away as gifts to your friends.

This kit makes the perfect gift for that horse person in your life. Give the gift that keeps on giving!
